What makes Ascension's HSPAL residency program an exemplary place for learning is its commitment to clinical excellence in a well-rounded and large health system. We serve 110 hospitals and over 1,500 sites, covering more than 18,000 acute care patient beds. We are a federally recognized Patient Safety Organization, and formal partner with ISMP. Our national scope and stewardship of resources allow us to contribute nearly $2 billion annually in care of persons living in poverty and for community benefit.
The Ascension Rx PGY1/2 Clinical Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency is a 24-month program. The resident will train extensively in the foundational aspects of contemporary, corporate health-system administration so that she or he may emerge an elite and highly competitive candidate for a post-resident leadership position in the profession. The PGY1 residency year consists of robust clinical rotation experiences at diverse practice settings within the Tennessee market, including adult, pediatric, academic, and community-based hospitals. The PGY2 resident will work virtually with the national leadership team in experiences ranging from clinical and operational pharmacy administration, system-wide finance, formulary management and cost-efficacy dynamics, system-wide implementation of guidelines and directives, informatics, contracting and executive leadership.
