This position covers the inpatient oncology unit at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital and works closely with oncology physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients. The inpatient oncology unit provides comprehensive acute oncology care, including bone marrow transplant, CAR-T and BiTE therapy, and investigational drug research. Pharmacists are an integral part of the oncology care team and embedded in the unit, participating in rounds and serving side by side in patient care with the other members of the team. The Oncology Clinical Specialist also assists in coordination of outpatient care involving anti-neoplastic therapies, including outpatient infusion services.
Schedule: 8-on-6-off position with 10 hour shifts from 0700-1730. Flexible scheduling and paid time off.

Responsibilities:
Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized areas, such as nuclear medicine, oncology, cardiology. Serve as a subject matter expert in pharmacy discipline and provide guidance across pharmacies and to clinical leadership.
Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems.
Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
Compound and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
Provide patient counseling when required.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Pharmacist credentialed from the Kansas Board of Pharmacy obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
