Our 889-bed nonprofit, acute, tertiary, teaching Level I trauma center hospital is located in the heart of Los Angeles. The Pharmacy Department has over 450 staff members who provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services as well as outpatient services via two cancer centers, outpatient pharmacies and ambulatory care clinics.
Title: Oncology Pharmacy Manager - Cancer Center
The Pharmacy Manager at our Medical Network Oncology Pharmacy Services is responsible for oversight of oncology and infusion pharmacy services for the medical network. Key areas pf responsibility include management of pharmacy supply chain, reimbursement, quality, safety and operations. The leader also supports human resources management in collaboration with the leaders at each site. The position collaborates with physicians, nurses, and key stakeholders to ensure safe and effective pharmacy services.
What's this role all about?
Provides oversight of pharmacy supply chain management across cancer centers to support efficiency and leverage opportunities for cost savings. Conducts ongoing analyses of pricing, CMS changes and payer policies and provides recommendations related to preferred medications
Leads Medical Network Cancer Pharmacy program to ensure a systems approach to procurement, operations, quality and safety across the cancer centers.
Performs strategic evaluation of medication reimbursement to determine of site of care opportunities, need for treatment regimen changes, revenue cycle and managed care implications in collaboration with oncologist and key stakeholders.
Develops and implements cancer value-based initiatives in collaboration with physician, clinical and operational leaders and teams.
Oversees Medical Network Alternate Site Infusion Center pharmacy operations.
Leads Medical Network cancer pharmacy and operational meeting to communicate information and obtain input on new policies, practices and procedures.
Advances role of oncology pharmacist to meet patient and provider needs.
Collaborates with medical center oncology pharmacy leadership to ensure consistency in pharmacy standards of practice across cancer centers.
Ensures compliance with sterile compounding standards.
Ensures quality of clinical trials at MN cancer centers in collaboration with researchers.
Collaborates with clinical teams to optimize infusion workflows to support safety and efficiency.
Leads ongoing education of pharmacy and clinical teams related to advances in treatment and practice in collaboration with medical center oncology pharmacy leadership.
Actively participates in professional organizations through committees, presentations and contributions to the literature.
Supports HR management of pharmacy staff in collaboration with leadership at cancer centers.
Our other opportunity is as a full time Outpatient Oncology Pharmacist (hybrid - 1x a week - home)
The Oncology Pharmacist will provide support for oncology diagnosis-related group guideline development, updates and new drug monographs. You will be presenting quarterly summaries of diagnosis-related group updates at the Oncology P&T subcommittee meetings. You will provide patient education and follow up to the growing oral chemotherapy specialty pharmacy program.
Education:
Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree is required
License/Certification:
CA Pharmacist license
Basic Life Support by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
