The Henry Ford Cancer Institute (HFCI) is one of the largest cancer institutes in the state of Michigan, treating more than 14,000 patients per year and offering multidisciplinary comprehensive cancer care at both the main Henry Ford Hospital campus as well as several of satellite locations within Henry Ford Health.
The one-year pharmacy residency in Hematology/Oncology at Henry Ford Hospital has been developed to produce a pharmacy clinical specialist with a robust knowledge of advanced disease-specific content and skills that will allow them to be capable of practicing in a variety of different settings. Residents will work alongside clinical pharmacists in both the ambulatory and inpatient environments allowing for pharmacist mentoring and modeling as well as for integration into the collaborative practice model with close physician and patient interactions. Residents will have the opportunity to enhance foundational skills obtained in PGY-1 residency via interaction with the center’s current PGY-2 residents in ambulatory care, critical care, infectious disease and solid organ transplant, PGY-1 residents and longitudinal advanced pharmacy practice (LAPP) students.
Clinical rotation experiences include the following:
-Ambulatory Hematology/oncology (16 weeks)
-Inpatient Hematology/oncology (8 weeks)
-Ambulatory Stem Cell Transplantation (4 weeks)
-Inpatient Stem Cell Transplantation (4 weeks)
-Ambulatory Oral Chemotherapy Management (4 weeks and longitudinal experience)
-Oncology Pharmacy Administration (Longitudinal)
-Investigational Drug Services (4 weeks)
-Inpatient and Ambulatory Oncology-Based Staffing (Longitudinal)
Elective experiences may include:
-Transplant Infectious Diseases
-Nutritional Support
-Palliative Care
-Benign Hematology/Hematology Consult

Applicants must be graduates of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy, have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency and be eligible for Michigan licensure. Academic transcripts, letter of intent/personal statement, three professional references and curriculum vitae should be submitted to PHORCAS. The application deadline is January 2nd. An interview is required.
