Residency Description

The Pharmacy Informatics Residency Program with Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is designed to provide the resident with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be a leader in pharmacy informatics and health information technology. The flexibility and wide variety of opportunities allow for the program to be individually tailored to the interests of the resident. Rotation opportunities include clinical informatics, vendor relations, pharmacy automation, health system informatics and administration, supply chain operations, evidence-based medicine, patient safety, quality, and regulatory operations.

Upon completion of the residency, the resident will be proficient in pharmacy informatics at a multi-facility health care system.

In addition to learning about informatics, the resident has opportunities to be involved with teaching through our affiliation with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Pharmacy. The resident can earn a teaching certificate through SIUE, and will receive an adjunct clinical faculty appointment with the school.

About Us

The Pharmacy Informatics Residency Program at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s has received full accreditation by ASHP. The residency is based out of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Illinois, which is located about 20 miles east of St. Louis. HSHS St. Elizabeth’s is part of a multi-institutional health care system that sponsors 15 hospitals in 13 communities across Illinois and Wisconsin.
 
Recognized as one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is a leader in cardiac care and is accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. Our hospital provides care to the St. Louis metropolitan area, Southern Illinois region, and Scott Air Force Base, and is also a training site for the St. Louis University Family Medicine Residency Program and SIUE School of Pharmacy APPE Program. On November 4th 2017, HSHS St. Elizabeth’s moved to a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in O’Fallon, Illinois.

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy academic program

• Licensed pharmacist, or be eligible for licensure, in the state of Illinois within the first 90 days of the start date of residency
