Purpose: The Intermountain Health PGY2 Thrombosis and Hemostasis Management (THM) residency program at Intermountain Medical Center provides thrombosis and hemostasis specific training in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The program facilitates clinical and professional growth, emphasizes evidence-based medicine, and provides the ability to critically assess and manage complex patients. The program will train pharmacists to develop the skills necessary to practice in a variety of clinical settings with a focus on anticoagulation, antiplatelet, and hemostatic agents. The program will equip the resident with the leadership skills necessary to lead system initiatives related to thrombosis and hemostasis management and to deliver patient-level and population health-based care. The resident will have a variety of rotations with numerous opportunities to develop teaching, precepting, and presentation styles as well as engage in research and committees.
Practice Sites/Rotations: The PGY2 THM resident will train in both the hospital and clinic setting at Intermountain Medical Center. The resident will spend 8 weeks with our Thrombosis service which provides care in the hospital and outpatient settings and is led by internationally recognized thrombosis experts. Additional rotations and sites include emergency medicine, pediatric anticoagulation service (Primary Children’s Hospital), cardiac ICU, advanced heart failure and mechanical circulatory support, outpatient anticoagulation management service, and leadership. A longitudinal research project is required as well as a longitudinal experience on our hemostasis and antithrombotic P&T subcommittee. The resident is expected to staff every 3rd weekend.
Requirements/Benefits: Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (ACPE accredited), PGY1 residency, and pharmacist licensure in Utah. The stipend for PGY2 residents at Intermountain Health is approximately $76,000. Residents (and their family members) will enjoy a full range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance. Intermountain offers many insurance benefits to protect you and your family including health, dental, pet, life, and disability insurance coverage. Retirement programs, a travel stipend to two national conferences and a generous paid time off program (paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave) are additional benefits of the program.
