Kaiser Permanente Georgia’s PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency is a 52-week, ASHP-accredited program in metro-Atlanta that prepares its residents to become advanced, skilled pharmacy practitioners who are qualified for a position as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacy specialist. Our hybrid program provides remote and in-person training in various specialty ambulatory care pharmacy clinics within an integrated healthcare delivery system.
During the year, our residents work under a collaborative practice agreement in direct patient care and interact with many multidisciplinary teams. Residents will gain insight into providing comprehensive medication management in primary care and specialty outpatient practices. In addition to required core experiences, longitudinal experiences, and two block elective rotations, residents will present one continuing education program to the pharmacy department in the fall.
The residency program prepares its graduates to function independently in a variety of outpatient settings and become eligible for board certification. This residency will provide graduates with the necessary skills to become advanced, skilled pharmacy practitioners capable of obtaining a position as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacy specialist in a wide range of ambulatory settings.
Program Highlights:
Ability to work under collaborative practice agreements in adult primary care and specialty services including anticoagulation, cardiology, geriatrics, and nephrology
Wide range of ambulatory specialty elective opportunities including HIV, oncology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Pain and Palliative Care
Practice site includes 26 outpatient ambulatory care clinics in the metro Atlanta area and access to a robust electronic medical record
Exposure to population health learning opportunities and access to a robust electronic medical record
Collaborate with a pharmacy research committee to complete a unique research project with a publishable manuscript
Develop a business plan for the expansion of pharmacy services for the health plan
