Master's and PGY1/PGY2 Residency in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership
Established in 2002, the ASHP-accredited PGY1/PGY2 residency in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions. It prepares residents who can assume high level managerial, supervisory, and leadership responsibilities. Areas of competence emphasized during the program include safe and effective medication-use systems, quality assurance and improvement, the management of financial resources, use of technology, and advanced leadership. The residency lays the foundation for continued growth in management and leadership skills.
Through extensive clinical, didactic and leadership experiences, graduates of this residency program will be well prepared for a clinical or operational management/supervisory role in a variety of work settings. Alumni of the program have been recruited and accepted positions in adult health-systems, consulting, pediatrics, and more. The program begins mid-June and ends approximately two years later on June 30.
Our program is anchored by the One Team Values of Nationwide Children’s and personification of these values in those we recruit:
Do the right thing
Create a safe day everyday
Promote health and well-being
Be agile and innovative
Get results
We look for emerging leaders who will do the right thing, even when it is not in their best interest; leaders who place patient and medication safety as the top priority every day and understand that building solid clinical skills is essential. We believe that agility and innovation are key to creating best outcomes for our kids in the future and hope to attract candidates who strive to make today’s innovations tomorrow’s operations. Finally, successful candidates must show initiative and be driven. Our program is rigorous, but also very rewarding. We look for candidates who will embrace the challenge and push us (preceptors and program directors) to be our best as well.
Successful candidates will be eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Ohio. The residency begins mid-June and ends two years later on June 30.
