Riverside Methodist Hospital is a 1059-bed, non-profit, community tertiary care teaching hospital within the multi-hospital OhioHealth system. OhioHealth provides inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology services at various locations across central Ohio. OhioHealth serves over 35,000 infusion center patients per year, and continues to grow. The vision of OhioHealth cancer care is to provide consistent oncologic care in the backyard of those we serve. As such, the PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency program at Riverside Methodist Hospital will focus on a system-approach to providing the highest level of cancer care at urban, suburban, and rural facilities. Projects, processes, and procedures will be initiated and piloted at the residency’s home site, Riverside Methodist Hospital, and the resident will conceptualize how these practices can be applied to the OhioHealth system. Residents will gain experience in direct patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as system-level decision-making. Onsite and offsite elective experiences are offered and tailored to the resident's interests.
The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency offered at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital is a community-focused program that fosters development of independent oncology pharmacy clinicians, able to: 1) enhance existing oncology pharmacy services; 2) launch new oncology pharmacy services at community or academic hospitals; and/or 3) lead oncology pharmacy initiatives for an institution or industry as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The team of preceptors and pharmacy leaders at OhioHealth will guide the resident to independently initiate, optimize, and create medication therapy management for patients across the continuum of care.
