SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Directly supervise, lead and coordinate the daily activities of Pharmacy workers related to sterile and nonsterile compounding. Perform all management decisions and activities for the West Shore region (Holy Spirit and Hampden Medical Centers). Reviews and dispenses each order confirming accuracy and appropriateness of drug, dosage, and route to detect incompatibilities or drug interactions. Maintains strict control of distribution of controlled substances with established procedures to satisfy legal requirements. Influences the drug use process in the patient care area by working closely with nursing and medical staffs to insure cost-effective use of drug therapy, appropriate administration and efficient drug distribution to ensure positive patient outcome. Reviews, updates, and follows all sterile products policies and procedures as defined in the department policy and procedure manual. Evaluates changes in regulations pertaining to the compounding of sterile and nonsterile products and works to implement those changes. Educates all technical and professional staff on proper cleaning of the sterile and nonsterile products area and handling and compounding of sterile and nonsterile products.Â
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Bachelor's degree or Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) required
Must be a licensed pharmacist in the state of Pennsylvania
Compounding Sterile Preparations certificate or other sterile compounding training
Minimum of five (5) years experience in sterile compounding
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Board-certified pharmacist in Compounded Sterile Products preferred.
