The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at Trinity Health Grand Rapids provides residents with a broad-based and customizable clinical training experience in ambulatory care. The PGY2 resident will operate as an independent practitioner under a collaborative practice agreement alongside our team of ambulatory care clinical pharmacists embedded in nearly every outpatient primacy and specialty office within our health system.
The required rotations, together with the large number of available elective rotations, allow the resident to acquire experience and competence in a wide range of ambulatory care practice areas in order to produce excellent independent clinical pharmacy practitioners. We offer unparalleled learning experiences in unique outpatient settings that include an urban underserved primary care clinic, a large renal transplant center, and the largest HIV clinic in West Michigan.
Our PGY2 pharmacy residency program will build on PGY1 training programs and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients in the specialty area of ambulatory care. Residents who successfully complete our PGY2 in ambulatory care will be eligible for board certification in ambulatory care (BCACP) and equipped to pursue a position specializing in primary care, anticoagulation management, or specialty areas such as endocrine or geriatrics.
Only graduates from ACPE-accredited pharmacy programs, who have completed an ASHP-accredited or candidate status PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency and are eligible for Michigan licensure may apply to the residency program. Foreign pharmacy graduates, who also meet these criteria, may apply to the residency program after successfully passing TOEFL and FPGEE, and if licensed to practice pharmacy in the United States.
