UF Health Jacksonville is a 791 bed academic medical center located in Jacksonville, Florida with a Downtown and a North Campus. It is part of the UF Health system and functions as the Jacksonville campus for the University of Florida's Health Science Center. The campus is home to North Florida's only Level I Trauma Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Florida Poison Information Center. We also offer a Certified Stroke Program and are home to the UF Proton Beam facility. UF Health Jacksonville has been recognized as a Magnet Hospital and has received the Sterling Award from the Governor of Florida. Our ambulatory care clinics are designated as NCQA patient-centered medical homes with active pharmacist participation.
The hospital and ambulatory clinics utilize Epic, automated dispensing cabinets, Smart Pumps, and barcode medication administration. We also have a large Ambulatory Care Center with outpatient pharmacists practicing in a variety of clinics. Inpatient pharmacists at UFHJ have a unit-based practice with a focus on patient care and teaching incorporated into our practice model.
Our pharmacists precept 10 PGY1 residents and 5 PGY2 residents in Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Pain Management/Palliative Care.
Our team of pharmacists consists of diverse, passionate, and collaborative individuals. The department participates in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care and enjoys an excellent relationship with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other disciplines. The successful candidates will serve as a preceptor for our ASHP accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs and for APPE students. There are opportunities for research, publishing, didactic lectures and improvement of patient safety and professional practice through hospital committees. The department supports professional development and encourages participation in the regional/national professional organizations.
