The Pediatric PGY2 residency at Monroe Carell Jr., Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is designed to build upon a PGY1 foundation of clinical knowledge. Through further experiences in patient-centered care, teaching and leadership, the resident will have the opportunity to enhance their skills and confidence in pediatric pharmaceutical care. This resident can anticipate focus on sharpening their clinical skills in pediatric pharmacy practice while working towards independence, in a particular area if desired, throughout the 12-month residency. After completion, the resident will be prepared for an opportunity to work as a clinical pharmacy specialist. The goals and objectives of this program follow those established by ASHP. Required rotations include: PICU, ID, NICU, oncology and pediatric medicine with longitudinal experiences in clinical on call, research, and practice management. Elective rotations, such as stem cell transplant, emergency medicine, solid organ transplant and other learning experiences will be tailored to the resident's interests. Drug information, pharmacokinetics, informatics, medication safety and research will be emphasized throughout the residency. A teaching certificate program will be offered for interested residents.

Special Requirements for Acceptance: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a graduate of an accredited B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy program and be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Tennessee by July 31st. Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency is required.
