Summary: Pharmacy leadership roles direct daily operations of pharmacy services and pharmacy staff. They participate in determining the short and long-term goals for the department and related policies and procedures. They also provide leadership and guidance to the pharmacy staff and serve as role models to those professionals under their supervision.
Principal Responsibilities:
Supervises and directs the daily operations of pharmacy services
Serves as a resource person regarding pharmacy policies to pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff
Participates in on-call responsibility as assigned
Responsible for staff development and performance evaluation
Assists in the recruitment, interviews, and training of new staff
Participates in the development of policy and procedures
Conducts educational programs, in-services, and staff meetings
Oversees sterile and non-sterile compounding operations
Ensures the implementation of strategic clinical initiatives
Manages departmental pharmaceutical budgets

Qualifications:
Licensure: Eligible for Pharmacist licensures in the the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Experience : Related experience 3-5 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have excellent verbal, written, and quantitative skills
Displays a comprehensive knowledge of department operations
Shows knowledge of the pharmacology of drugs and legal aspects of dispensing
Demonstrates interpersonal skills to educate and supervise staff, normally acquired after a three to five years of related hospital experience in a progressive, large health care organization and through self-directed education
Can work accurately and make decisions under stress and with time constraints
