Touro College of Pharmacy invites applications for 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Specialties of interest include ambulatory care, critical care, oncology, and psychiatry.
Job Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Develop an innovative clinical practice and serve as a preceptor and role model for students on introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences
Provide didactic classroom teaching and recitation instruction on campus
Provide service on college committees, attend and participate in departmental meetings, and perform other faculty duties as appropriate
Contribute to new knowledge (research) through research activities, poster presentations, publications, obtaining grants and/or contracts, clinical trials, and other scholarly work
Provide reports and other documents as requested by Department Chairs, Directors, and Deans.
Practice Site Job Responsibilities, Daily services provided by the pharmacist faculty member and/or students supervised by the faculty member may include:
Participate in daily patient care rounds
Perform medication reconciliation
Perform prospective medication review
Administer vaccines (flu, pneumococcal, shingles)
Counsel patients on medications prescribed by providers
Design patient education leaflets for commonly prescribed agents and others as indicated
Respond to drug information queries
Perform prospective drug utilization reviews and provide interventions regarding agents prescribed by providers and to include review for drug interactions, contraindications, renal dosing, cost effective medication prescribing, preventative medication prescribing
Perform screening tests as indicated and permitted
Perform pharmacogenetic testing when indicated
Provide clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy education to providers and residents in areas identified by the providers (for example, antimicrobial spectrum/coverage indications for anticoagulant discontinuation, duration of action, and reversal agents, and pain management, renal dose, adjustment of commonly utilized agents, common and important drug-drug and drug-disease interactions)
Provide timely information and updates on prescribing laws and regulations in NY State
Detect, report, and manage adverse drug reactions and medication errors
Develop collaborative drug therapy management protocols
Review medication storage to assist in meeting regulatory requirements
Lead and collaborate on research endeavors with school faculty and students
Qualifications Education/ Experience
Doctor of Pharmacy required.
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) with post-graduate training- a PGY-1 and PGY-2 Residency required, or Fellowship or equivalent clinical experience
Previous academic experience and board certification in an area appropriate for the applicant's training and experience (e.g. BPS and BCACP) are preferred
Must be eligible for licensure in the state of New York

Strong commitment to teaching practice and scholarship
Exemplary interpersonal communication and organization skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
