Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio, TX is currently recruiting for THREE full-time, day shift (rotating weekends), decentralized abdominal transplant pharmacist positions - TWO abdominal transplant positions at the Specialty and Transplant (MHST) campus and ONE cardiothoracic transplant position at the flagship Methodist Hospital (MH).
The transplant pharmacist positions would join our pharmacy team and have a primary assignment working on our transplant care unit and rotating to our hospital-based transplant clinic.
Opportunities also include precepting pharmacy students from two colleges of pharmacy (UT Austin, UIW), and involvement in various transplant quality initiatives.
Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant is a 350 bed acute care facility with an average daily census of 220 patients. Our transplant center performs liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants in the adult population. Since opening the transplant program in 1984, the program has performed close to 7,000 kidney, kidney/pancreas transplants and over 800 liver transplants with recognition as being one of the largest living donor kidney transplant programs in the country. With the continuing growth of transplant services, we would like for you to join our expanding transplant pharmacy team.
Methodist Hospital (MH) is an 800 bed acute care facility, with an average daily census 759,that provides patient care across multiple specialty service lines including solid organ transplant, cardiology, neurology, oncology, bone marrow transplant and intensive care. MH campus is shared with Methodist Children’s Hospital, a >250 acute care children’s hospital with a Level IV NICU and robust congenital heart program. In 2024 we performed 57 heart transplants and opened our lung transplant program performing 5 transplants in the first year. MH has one of the highest heart transplant volumes in Texas and we are excited to continue the growth of our lung transplant program.
What qualifications you will need:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Advanced Clinical Pharmacist (in a specific area of focus) or at least 5 years of general hospital pharmacy experience required; preferably within area of focus OR completion of a PGY2 pharmacy residency or fellowship
AND BCPS certification or other Board of Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) certification (or planned certification within 12-18 months)
ONE of the following is required prior to the first day of employment: Current Registered Pharmacist licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or Licensed pharmacist in another state: Provide proof of the Authorization to Test (ATT) from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
