Adult Acute Care Internal/Hospital Medicine Pharmacists
The WVU Medicine Pharmacy Department has two openings for Clinical Pharmacists as described below:
Internal Medicine (Home Position) – This Adult Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist provides decentralized pharmacy services for academic Internal Medicine rounding teams during day-shift hours with scheduled weekend and holiday coverage. Core responsibilities include order verification, responding to drug information inquiries, medication management, pharmacokinetic consultation, patient counseling, and coordination of activities with pharmacy technicians. The pharmacist will support adult inpatients through direct clinical services, participate in adult Code Blue response, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to medication safety and education initiatives. Additional expectations include precepting pharmacy students and residents (PGY1/PGY2), participating in committees, and engaging in research and quality-improvement projects.
Internal Medicine/Hospital Medicine Float – This Clinical Generalist float position provides decentralized pharmacy services across both Internal Medicine academic rounding teams and Hospital Medicine services, primarily during day-shift hours with scheduled weekend and holiday responsibilities. Core responsibilities mirror those of the home position, including direct patient care, order verification, drug information support, medication management, pharmacokinetic consultation, patient counseling, technician coordination, and participation in Code Blue response. The float pharmacist will similarly collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, support medication safety and education efforts, precept learners, and engage in committee, research, and quality-improvement activities.
