								<description>Atlanta, Georgia,  The Pharmacist Specialist ensures safe, efficacious, rational, and cost-effective patient medication therapy by influencing physicians&#39; use of resources and monitoring drug effectiveness. Develops and improves integrated clinical and distributive pharmaceutical services. Reviews physician orders, coordinates dispensing of medications, and provides clinical and educational services to other healthcare professionals and to pediatric patients and their families. 
 Job Responsibilities 
 
 
 Performs production and distributive pharmacy responsibilities as required. 
 Interacts and participates with team members and other healthcare providers for the provision of safe, cost-effective drug therapy for assigned patient care teams. 
 Provides drug information and medication use education to healthcare professionals. 
 Participates in developing and evaluating drug policies, conducting drug utilization evaluations, and reporting adverse drug reactions/adverse drug events. 
 Maintains accurate patient medication profiles, noting medication reconciliation drug-related problems and coordinating patient medication needs at transition of care. 
 Provides education and supports team participation in the provision of medication education to patients and families. 
 Serves as preceptor and clinical leader to new employees, post-graduate year one residents, and pharmacy students. 
 Maintains individual competence and develops professional practice management skills. 
 
 
 Hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30a-4:00p, which occasional weekend and holiday rotation Experience 
 
 
 Experience in a hospital pharmacy in pediatrics 
 
 
 Preferred Qualifications 
 
 
 ASHP-Accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency or Equivalent Experience 
 ASHP-Accredited PGY2 Oncology or Pediatrics Residency or Equivalent Experience 
 
 
 Education 
 
 
 PharmD (or equivalent experience) and graduation from an accredited pharmacy school 
 
 
 Certification Summary 
 
 
 Georgia licensed pharmacist and residency or equivalent experience 
 American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) 
 
 
 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
 
 
 Ability to work effectively with multiple groups of healthcare professionals and communicate effectively with patients and parents/caregivers</description>

 The Advanced Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (ACPS) is an expert-level practitioner who serves as a recognized authority within the institution, leading and advancing clinical pharmacy services across all areas of care. Operating at the top of their license, the ACPS functions with a high degree of autonomy to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to the most complex hematology and oncology patients. This role is distinguished by its leadership in clinical innovation, engagement in practice-based research, and involvement in implementing strategic programs that enhance patient care and advance pharmacy practice. The ACPS serves as a key mentor to other clinical pharmacists, residents and students, and plays an integral role in shaping institutional policies, optimizing medication use, and driving quality outcomes in cancer patients. 
 
 &#xa0;Responsibilities: 
 
 Directs and optimizes pharmacotherapy for complex oncology populations, including patients with refractory disease, those enrolled in clinical trials, and recipients of novel therapies such as cellular therapies (e.g., CAR-T) and complex immunotherapies. 
 Leads the implementation of new clinical practices and technologies within their service area, collaborating with peers and  providers to expand clinical pharmacy services and support quality improvement efforts. 
 Designs, conducts, and publishes practice-based research and quality improvement projects that contribute to the body of knowledge   in  oncology pharmacy. Seeks opportunities to serve as a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator. 
 Serves as a Program Director, Coordinator, or primary preceptor for the PGY-2 and PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Programs, developing  the curriculum and overseeing the training and evaluation of residents. 
 Contributes to medication safety initiatives by identifying and&#xa0;analyzing medication errors and adverse drug events within their practice area, and by implementing evidence-based strategies to enhance patient safety.

 Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required 
 
 Demonstrated ability to lead clinical initiatives 
 Experience mentoring residents, students, or junior pharmacists 
 Participation in institutional committees or task forces 
 Evidence of autonomous practice capabilities 
 Active participation in research or quality improvement 
 Contribution to protocol/guideline development 
 
 Required Credentials and Qualifications:

 Completion of a PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in  area  of specialization OR PGY-1 residency AND a minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience as a clinical pharmacist in a comprehensive academic setting&#xa0;OR 8 years of progressive experience as a clinical pharmacist in a comprehensive academic setting with significant time practicing in applicable specialty area. 
 Board of Pharmacy Certification (BPS) in  area  of Specialty within 18 months of hire or transfer.
 
 BPS certifications allowed are: BCPS - Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialty, BCOP - Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist, BCIDP - Board Certified Infectious Disease Pharmacist, BCPMP - Board Certified Pain Management Pharmacist,  BCCCP - Board  Certified Critical Care Pharmacist
