| UF Health Shands is a nationally recognized 1152-bed academic medical center located in beautiful Gainesville, Florida. UF Health Shands provides diverse and comprehensive patient care services including a wide variety of critical care, hematology/oncology, pediatric, neurosurgical, cardiovascular and general medicine services. UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital is a hospital within a hospital on the main campus. It represents the only tertiary academic pediatric center in North Central Florida containing 206 beds. We are seeking a qualified individual to manage our pediatric and women’s pharmacy team. This critical leadership position oversees comprehensive pharmacy services within UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, supporting both pediatric and obstetrics/gynecology areas. The coordinator will lead a team of 22 direct pharmacist reports and a technician coordinator (28 indirect reports), and is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of pharmaceutical care in the following areas: - Pediatric Satellite Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Services
- Sterile Compounding – with primary oversight of pediatric and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) preparation
- Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Services within the Children’s Hospital
- Support and oversight of medication carousel operations
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Manage team and satellite operations on a daily basis
- Mentor team and create vision for pharmacy services
- Lead team in identifying cost containment and cost savings initiatives in pediatric and women’s area
- Lead team in developing and maintaining competencies for pharmacists in pediatric/women’s health related topics
- Provide performance evaluations on an annual basis for all direct reports
- Lead interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize drug therapy and prevent adverse medication events amongst team
- Lead departmental quality improvement projects in pediatric and women’s areas
- Participate in research activities ongoing in the department
- Serve as resident and student mentor and preceptor

Numerous teaching, research, and professional development opportunities are also available. Required education and experience is as follows: One of the following is required: 1. Doctor of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent) 2. Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy plus clinically oriented Masters in Pharmacy 3. Board Certification One of the following is required: 1. Completion of residency or fellowship training 2. Experience deemed equivalent to residency or fellowship training Ideal candidates should have the following characteristics: - Completion of PGY-1 and PGY-2 Pediatrics Residency or PGY-2 Health System Administration Residency or experience deemed equivalent preferred
- Three (3) years’ experience as a registered pharmacist in institutional pharmacy practice strongly preferred (exceptional aptitude or knowledge may be considered in lieu of experience)
- Previous experience directing or coordinating personnel preferred
- Board certification preferred
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify and resolve problems required
- Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to effective working relationships both inter- and intra-departmentally required
- Demonstrated ability to integrate clinical services and educational activities required
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in pursuit of common goals required
