Our team of Critical Care Pharmacists at ECU Health work as a key member of the interdisciplinary team alongside providers, fellows, APPs, and medical residents to help provide high quality patient care across five adult ICU settings. Pharmacist are committed to the safe and effective use of medications through maximizing drug distribution and optimizing drug therapy outcomes; educating patients, providers, students and ourselves on best practice. Pharmacist will work in both clinical and operational settings; fully integrating pharmacists into the continuum of care.
Job Summary
ECU Health Critical Care Clinical Pharmacists will work full-time, primarily day shift position and every 4thweekend with the occasional 2nd shift critical care coverage rotating amongst other critical care pharmacists.
As the Critical Care Pharmacist, you will be responsible for:
Providing expert level of consultation, guidance, and direction for appropriate medication use for inpatient critical care patients.
Providing safe, evidence-based, cost effective, and patient centered medication management.
Optimizing patient outcomes by collaborating with the healthcare team through participation in interdisciplinary rounds
Performing medication order review, clarification, and verification assessing for completeness and appropriateness.
Providing clinical pharmaceutical care to optimize drug therapy for patients through the recommendation, implementation, monitoring, pharmacokinetics monitoring, and modification of individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Providing clinical pharmacy support to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other staff when caring for hospitalized patients
Developing and providing medication related information and education for pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other healthcare personnel
Precepting pharmacy students, residents, and others in training.
Providing leadership for developing, implementing, and maintaining medication-related guidelines, policies, and standards.
Contributing to institutional and collaborative research and scholarly activities.
Keeping abreast of changing protocols and clinical pharmacy standards.
PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, PGY2 Critical Care Residency

We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Pharmacy services are provided in a variety of areas including general internal medicine, post-surgical care, five adult intensive care units, cardiology, heart failure, infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, rehabilitation, general pediatrics, pediatric and neonatal intensive care, and adult/pediatric hematology/oncology.
