The Research Clinical Pharmacy Specialist provides expertise in clinical research study execution including scientific, clinical, and administrative functions of drug research for Oncology and non-Oncology clinical trials. The Pharmacist is responsible and accountable for the clinical trial protocol review, EMR protocol build requests, inventory management and accountability of investigational products, staff education, and accurate preparation and dispensing of investigational products in accordance with GCP, FDA regulations and guidance, Joint Commission standards, USP standards, applicable laws and Novant Health policies and procedures.
The Pharmacist will help develop and maintain investigational drug standard operating procedures. The Pharmacist will consistently communicate with and help coordinate pharmacy services with interdisciplinary clinical research teams, principal investigators, hospital and ambulatory pharmacy services, study sponsors and regulatory agencies, as needed. The pharmacist coordinates the use of investigational drugs across multiple services and locations within Novant Health and functions in a distribution services role where needed, including procurement, dispensing, and sterile and non-sterile compounding functions.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required. Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.
Experience: Postgraduate year 2 residency/fellowship OR four recent years of experience as registered pharmacist with majority of time spent in the specialty area of position being pursued OR Postgraduate year 1 residency/fellowship with 2 years of experience as a registered pharmacist with majority of time spent in the specialty area of position being pursued; Oncology experience preferred; Previous experience in clinical research or investigational drug services required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 60 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity; CITI certification for FDA-regulated research and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification required. Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification preferred.
Additional Skills/Requirements required: Basic technology skills. Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed.
