The medication safety specialist assumes the responsibility for supporting: (1) quality outcomes related to medication safety and performance improvement in conjunction with the Medication Safety and Outcomes team. (2) processes that assure pharmacy meets medication safety requirements and best practices that dictate patient care, patient safety and clinical practices as outlined by evidence-based literature, laws, regulations, policies, procedures and professional patient and medication safety organizations.

Experience: PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and min 2 years multi-site pharmacy practice experience required. PGY2 medication Safety Residency or 3 years Medication Safety experience at multi-site pharmacy practice setting required.
Licensure/Certification: License to practice pharmacy in the applicable state(s) and in good standing with the state(s) Board of Pharmacy required. ISMP-ASHP Medication Safety Certificate preferred.
Additional skills required: Basic technology skills. Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility-specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Displays excellent computer, writing, and editing skills. Demonstrates the ability to write clearly and concisely, and in a manner that diminishes risk and provides a clear concise guide for best practices. Ability to work collaboratively with other health care professionals and lead change. Ability to organize and determine work priorities and triage appropriately. Possesses consulting skills.
