The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy (BGCOP) is seeking applicants for the PGY2 pharmacy residency in ambulatory / primary care with a focus in family medicine. The residency is ASHP accredited and has a secondary emphasis in academia, which prepares the graduate to excel as a clinical faculty member or clinical specialist with teaching responsibilities.
Program Description:
The successful applicant will spend a significant portion of their time working with full-time and adjunct faculty members in the College of Pharmacy in the area of ambulatory / primary care. Three core family medicine rotations are required in the ETSU Health residency clinics. These three rotations are each two month block experiences (total of six months). There are also private practice rotations offered with Ballad Health Medical Associates and State of Franklin Healthcare Associates. One month of private practice is required and more time is available as an elective. Required longitudinal experiences include ambulatory care practice management, scholarship, and teaching / learning. A teaching certificate is available, but not required. Electives options include academia, addiction medicine, advanced diabetes management, advanced family medicine, global health and underserved populations, oncology, private practice II, and psychiatry. Longitudinal elective options include ambulatory care practice management II or other clinical elective. Additional electives may be developed based on resident interest and preceptor availability. Significant opportunity exists to serve rural and underserved patients. The successful applicant will instruct students in didactic, active learning, and experiential settings. The resident will be mentored to independently precept pharmacy students.
