Job Summary:
Responsible for all pharmacy functions within the system. The Senior Director of Pharmacy provides system wide leadership for all pharmacy services, including inpatient, outpatient, and specialty pharmacy collaboration. This role partners with pharmacy leaders and the VP of Clinical Support Operations to ensure high quality, efficient, and financially responsible operations. Develops, implements, and communicates a system-wide plan for the Pharmacy that aligns and supports the goals, values and objectives of the organization.
As a Director at Owensboro Health, you provide operational and strategic oversight for designated departments or service areas. You translate organizational goals into actionable plans, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You are accountable for resource stewardship and regulatory compliance.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for oversight of pharmacy operational, growth, project and financial strategic planning for the system.
Provides leadership for the development and implementation of practices, policies, and procedures in all functional areas of the department.
Develops and maintains an effective clinical pharmacy program that supports the medical staff and quality initiatives of the organization.
Ensures pharmaceutical services are administered in accordance with accepted professional principles including compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines governing pharmaceutical services, as well as standards or recommendations promoted by nationally recognized professional organizations.
Provides leadership for establishing medication-related policies and procedures reflecting accepted professional pharmacy principles.
Provides oversight for safe and appropriate procurement, storage, preparation, dispensing, use, tracking and control, and disposal of medications and medication-related devices throughout the organization.
Demonstrates broad knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory, and administrative requirements to department operations and accountable for the department's compliance.
Develops system and outreach quality planning and improvement programs.
Communicates with local and system executive leadership to achieve quality, safety and service throughout the system.
Maintains a positive interactive relationship with the system OHI executive leadership, physicians, and committees.
Serve on, lead, and chair committees throughout the organization as appropriate.
Demonstrates competence in building and maintaining successful relationships at all levels of a customer-service focused organization.
Works with partners in the community to address the needs of the communities served.
Liaison for all marketing of pharmaceutical services across the system.
Actively engages in the promotion, retention, and educational excellence of OHI's pharmacy professionals.
Prepares and projects pharmaceutical services operating and capital budgets.
Designs and implements special project planning for system.
Cultivates and maintains a professional departmental culture by modeling appropriate behavior, setting clear expectations, and addressing issues that impact team performance or morale.

Change Management – Involved in implementing organizational change initiatives. Able to effectively manage resistance, communicate change effectively, and foster a culture of adaptability within their teams.
Leadership Development – Actively engages in the Leadership Development Program by enrolling in the program within the first 6 months of employment and completing the program within the first 2 years of employment.

Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years' of leadership experience in a relevant field is required.
Experience with 340B, specialty pharmacy, inpatient and outpatient services preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy required upon hire.
Master’s degree or higher in Business Administration or Health Administration preferred upon hire or within 3 years of hire.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
R.Ph. - Licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Kentucky required upon hire
