Join Carle Foundation Hospital as an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist and become an essential part of one of Illinois’ busiest emergency departments. In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical residents, and nurses to ensure safe, effective medication use and deliver exceptional patient care.
As an Emergency Medicine Pharmacist at Carle Health, you will:
Lead in critical moments: Assist with drug therapy management during medical emergencies, including codes, traumas, and strokes.
Optimize antibiotic use: Review cultures and verify antibiotics for sepsis alerts; monitor pending cultures to reduce readmissions and improve outcomes.
Advance best practices: Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based medication guidelines aligned with national quality measures.
Drive quality improvement: Participate in initiatives that elevate emergency medicine pharmacy practice.
Educate and mentor: Teach and precept pharmacy students and residents.
Serve as a trusted resource: Provide drug information and act as a liaison for physicians, residents, patients, and staff.
Deliver expert recommendations: Offer pharmacokinetic consultations and dosing guidance.

Required Qualifications
Licensed Pharmacist – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
Basic Life Support (BLS) – within 30 days of hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 1 year
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 1 year
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of an Emergency Medicine or Critical Care PGY2 residency or fellowship OR PGY1 plus 3+ years of relevant experience OR 5+ years of clinical pharmacist experience (preferably in emergency medicine or critical care)
