PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program:

The PGY-2 Infectious Diseases (ID) Pharmacy Residency program at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) will provide residents the opportunities to expand their clinical skills through monthly rotations including Antimicrobial Stewardship, ID consult service, Infectious Diseases Transition Services as well as ambulatory care services focusing on HIV and Hepatitis C.  Management experience will be gained throughout the year during the ID pharmacy resident’s work with the Antimicrobial Stewardship committee and formulary management.  The ID pharmacy resident will also have the opportunity to precept pharmacy students as well as co-precept PGY-1 pharmacy residents, which will allow them to develop and refine their teaching skills.  Longitudinal experiences include completion of a Medication Use Evaluation, Research project, participation in the Antimicrobial Stewardship committee, and presentations to the pharmacy staff.  Residents who successfully complete the PGY2 ID pharmacy residency program at PPMC are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification in area of practice.
